Did you know that most of the rescue organizations in Alberta are currently completely full and unable to rescue anymore dogs? This includes us here at Hope Lives Here.
Foster homes are incredibly hard to find right now and dogs that need to be rescued, can’t be until we have a qualified foster home open.
The spay and neuter clinics are coming up which often leaves a 100+ dogs (and cats) with nowhere to go but back to where they are not longer wanted.
Please consider becoming a foster home today – you will save a life. Fostering is the most important part of Hope Lives Here and the best thing is, is that it’s free!
If you’re interested in joining our foster program with our supportive team, please see our website (www.hopeliveshererescue.me) to read the guidelines and to complete a foster application.
]]>A quarantine home is a home where the foster parent has a separate space that allows the dog/puppy to be separated from other animals and have limited contact with those animals as well as people. We do this as a precaution to the animal and people in the home.
Quarantine foster homes are crucial for us at Hope Lives Here. They allow us to prevent the potential transfer of disease and parasites.
Our dogs are placed in quarantine upon rescue to ensure they are healthy. After the 10 day quarantine period, the dog is then taken to a local vet partner for a health exam and vaccinations. After their health is cleared, they are moved into their foster home! They will then be spayed/neutered and ready for adoption!
Every dog placed in quarantine does not mean it’s sick, it is our protocol to ensure that our foster homes and their animals are safe.
A quarantine space can be a closed off section of the home, a basement, a spare bedroom, a heated garage, a heated barn, or another suitable place that the dog/puppy can be separated from others.
To become a quarantine foster home today, please complete a foster application and specify that you are applying to strictly be a quarantine foster home. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email us at [email protected] and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have!
